Mukhriz rubbishes talk that he'll take up education minister post
Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir rejected speculation that he would be moving to occupy the Education Minister post left vacated by the recent resignation of Maszlee Malik.
In a statement released by the Bersatu party today, Mukhriz said there was still much to be done in Kedah.
He said he did not know how his name could have been brought up to the point that it was being circulated as fake news on social media.
"No ... there is more work to be done in Kedah," said Mukhriz who is also deputy president.
He lamented on the spread of the fake news and questioned who would have so much time to create posters, insert old pictures and make incorrect assumptions.
Speculation has been brewing over who will be appointed to take over Maszlee's place following his shock resignation on Jan 3.
Among the names mooted are fellow Bersatu MPs, former minister Mustapha Mohamed and Deputy Foreign Minister Marzuki Yahya both of whom have also ruled out taking the job.
