Prasarana CEO suspended, MAHB CEO resigns
Editor's note: It was earlier erroneously reported that Prasarana CEO Mohamed Hazlan Mohamed Hussain had been removed. Malaysiakini regrets this error.
Prasarana president and CEO Mohamed Hazlan Mohamed Hussain has been suspended from his position following a decision by the government-owned firm’s board of directors.
According to The Malaysian Insight, the decision was made on Dec 24 last year due to “public dissatisfaction” over the Light Rail Transit (LRT) services, which Prasarana operates.
Among the complaints mentioned were late notifications of LRT breakdowns.
In the interim, the report said, Hazlan’s role would be filled by Prasarana’s chief operating officer Nizam Alias.
When contacted, an aide of Transport Minister Anthony Loke confirmed that the minister was aware of the decision and stressed that it was made by the company’s board.
Prasarana has yet to make a formal announcement about any role changes. Malaysiakini has contacted Prasarana for comment.
Hazlan (above) was appointed on Sept 3, 2018.
MAHB boss to 'pursue other opportunities'
Meanwhile, the new year has seen another departure in the form of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd’s (MAHB) group chief executive officer Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin.
According to a filing in Bursa Malaysia yesterday, the resignation of Raja Azmi (below) was with immediate effect so that he could “pursue other opportunities”, but no further details were provided.
His resignation comes a year after he assumed the role, on Jan 4, 2019.
In the interim, the vacant post will be filled by MAHB’s chief operating officer Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh.
“The board would like to thank Raja Azmi for his services and would like to wish him well in his future endeavours.
“As a public listed company, MAHB will be undertaking the proper process to identify and appoint a suitable successor,” the airport operator said in a statement on its website.
