Kayveas trying to get MyPPP deregistered forever - Maglin

Maglin Dennis D'Cruz, who is leading a rival MyPPP faction against M Kayveas, has accused the latter of trying to get the party deregistered forever despite the Registrar of Societies (ROS) giving the party a second chance to be revived.

He also called the annual general assembly (AGM) organised by Kayveas today "illegal".

"It is a desperate act by as a desperate politician in a very desperate situation. It is the dangerous and despicable act of a politician thrashing around in his terminal desperation.

"I could have not imagined that a party with 66-year history brought to the street to have an illegal AGM in rather a desperate situation," D'Cruz (above) said in a statement today.

Kayveas (photo), at the AGM in Kuala Lumpur today, accused the ROS of usurping Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's powers by setting conditions for restoring MyPPP's registration.

This was despite Muhyiddin saying that he will leave it to the ROS to resolve the MyPPP tussle.

On Oct 7, ROS granted a conditional restoration to MyPPP's registration.

One of the conditions is that the party must meet to form an independent body to control and hold the party elections before Dec 31.

The ROS also stated that the party's committee for the 2014-2019 term was responsible for resolving the disputed issues.

The ROS also stipulated that during this time frame, no one has the authority to carry out other activities such as holding an AGM and making new appointments.

D'Cruz said Kayveas' move to proceed with the AGM tarnished MyPPP's image.

"We regard this as an act to challenge the ROS and its registrar that been empowered by the law of Malaysia as the supreme body and leader to oversee all the political parties in Malaysia.

"This action also can be construed as an effort to see MyPPP deregistered forever.

"Seeing this, I hope now the ROS will understand and see clearly where the fault is and who the cause is," he said.

D'Cruz said MyPPP members have lodged police reports against Kayveas over the "illegal" AGM.

"I have made an official complaint on this to ROS and hope that ROS will take stern action and consider our submissions to give a new life for MyPPP," he said.
