Dr M to discuss oil and gas royalty with Sabah, Sarawak in December
The issues surrounding royalty and cash payments for petroleum and gas will be discussed separately between Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the chief ministers of Sabah and Sarawak.
Assistant Minister in the Sarawak Chief Minister’s Department Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, in a statement here today, said the discussion was expected to be held in December.
She said the special cabinet steering committee to review the implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 had agreed to continue discussions on Petronas and other gas-related issues on a business-to-business (B2B) basis among Petronas, Petros and the state government.
“The special cabinet committee also agreed to the setting up of a special council to monitor the implementation of the decisions made by the committee.
"This special council will be chaired by the prime minister, and the chief ministers of Sabah and Sarawak will also be appointed as members of the council," she said.
