Bersatu's Rafiq denies conspiracy in Umno meet and 8 news from yesterday

1. Malacca Bersatu deputy chief Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen admitted to setting up a meeting with Umno but claimed it was to talk about development and not to mount a coup against the Amanah-led state government.
2. Former Malacca Umno chief Idris Haron said Umno assemblypersons are prepared to help oust the Malacca Amanah-led government but it won't be to put Bersatu in charge.
3. Both Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, in their Deepavali messages, called on Malaysians to overcome attempts to divide them.
4. Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said BN, which previously deprived Kelantan and Terengganu of oil royalty payments, said it is prepared to pay them in full if the coalition regained federal power.
5. Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa said BN will only intervene if Pakatan Harapan can't come to a consensus on the prime ministerial succession plan but if the coalition were to act, its MPs would be compelled to act as one.
6. DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said action should be taken against anyone that tries to eject any of the five parties within the current ruling coalition.
7. Police detained former journalist Hata Wahari for allegedly issuing a death threat against DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang.
8. Amanah's Shah Alam MP Khalid Abdul Samad, who is also the Federal Territories minister, said there is nothing wrong about race-based gathering but said it become racist if participants start to sow hatred against others.
9. Transparency International Malaysia took opposition MPs to task for refusing to declare their assets.
