FitMalaysia finale moved from Johor to Malacca
The FitMalaysia programme finale scheduled to be held this Saturday has been moved from Johor to Malacca, according to sources.
While declining to state the reason behind the move, Youth and Sports Ministry sources told Malaysiakini that organisers were forced to change the original plan to end the programme in Johor.
"According to our initial plan, the programme would end in Johor, but now it will be moved to Malacca.
"That is all that I can say, the rest I don't know," the source said.
Further quizzed on whether the move was due to alleged objections from the Johor palace, the source said: "Not sure if it involved the sultan or otherwise."
Another source had earlier indicated that objections from the Johor palace had led to the move to Malacca.
Malaysiakini has reached out to Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman for comment. Syed Saddiq is also the Muar MP.
Malacca will host some 15,000 participants of FitMalaysia's Southern Zone finale this Saturday at Dataran Pahlawan, Bandar Hilir.
The one-day sports carnival is also the last event in the current edition of FitMalaysia after being held at several locations nationwide.
Among activities to be held include a 5km FitMalaysia fun run, 30km bicycle ride, 2.5km "Family and Para Fun Walk", aerobicthon, sitting volleyball, e-sports and others.
The programme, which is scheduled to begin at 7am, will be launched by Malacca Chief Minister Adly Zahari, with an appearance by Syed Saddiq.
