PKR: Anwar did not skip meeting with PM
PKR has refuted allegations that its president, Anwar Ibrahim, did not attend a meeting between the heads of Pakatan Harapan component parties with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir.
In a statement today, PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil said the allegation by Bersatu founding member Khairuddin Abu Hassan was done in bad faith.
Fahmi said the meeting referred to by Khairuddin (below) was a meeting between Harapan leaders involved in the formation of the cabinet on May 2018.
"The meeting was to elicit views regarding government affairs and touched on matters concerning cabinet portfolios.
"This meant that PKR was represented by Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail," said Fahmi.
On May 10 last year, Mahathir held a meeting with then PKR president Wan Azizah, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to discuss the formation of the cabinet. PKR's Saifuddin Abdullah was also in attendance as secretary of the Harapan coalition.
It is understood that the meeting referred to by Khairuddin took place yesterday afternoon after the weekly cabinet meeting.
Since yesterday evening, several social media accounts began accusing Anwar of skipping the meeting with the prime minister.
This morning, Khairuddin, who does not belong to any Harapan component party, issued a statement accusing Anwar of being egoistic and refusing to attend the meeting.
