Hadi explains why he backs Iran's stance against US
Abdul Hadi Awang explained today that the reason why PAS supports Iran's stance against the United States is due to its strong commitment to the Palestinian cause and the liberation of Jerusalem.
"All Muslim countries need to unite against the evil efforts sponsored by this enemy," the PAS president said during a courtesy visit to the Iranian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, according to Harakahdaily.
Hadi also maintained that the United States plans to establish a new country on Egyptian soil for Palestinians.
But this, he added, would mean that they would have to abandon their homeland which is being occupied by Israel, as well as give up on their claim to Jerusalem.
Tensions between Iran and the United States escalated on June 13, following attacks on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman.
This came after a dispute between both countries over Tehran’s nuclear programme.
A week later, Iran shot down a US military spy drone over the southern Iranian province of Hormozgan, an action described by US President Donald Trump as a "grave mistake".
Despite his support for Iran's regime, the PAS president also warned that the influence of Syiah Islam should not bs spread here to maintain Muslim unity.
"Raising the issue of sectarian differences and endless legal debate can undermine the unity of Muslims in Sunni-majority countries, especially Malaysia," he added.
