Felda White Paper: Police probing two doubtful transactions
PARLIAMENT | The police are conducting detailed investigations regarding two of eight doubtful transactions as found in the Felda White Paper report.
Deputy Economic Affairs Minister Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin (above) said the two cases involved the purchase of the shares of Indonesian plantation company Eagle High Plantation and the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City development project.
"As a government which emphasises on a rule of law, it is apt that the authorities be given room to complete their investigations to ensure the legal process proceeded based on the rule of law," he said at a question-and-answer session in Dewan Rakyat today.
He said this when answering to an original question from Johari Abdul (Harapan-Sungai Petani) who wanted to know the actions of the government and the number of cases which had been taken to court following the tabling of the White Paper in Parliament in April.
Mohd Radzi said that follow up actions would also be taken soon on the balance six purchases and investments which were tabled in the White Paper.
‘’Although only eight transactions were focused on in the White paper, it does not mean that Felda is neglecting any other purchase or transaction,’’ he said.
On April 10, Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali had tabled a White Paper "Towards the Sustainability of the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda)" in Dewan Rakyat which explained the issues faced by Felda and the recovery plan to bring back the confidence of the people and to ensure the settlers continued to be championed by the government.
