Telekom Malaysia appoints Noor Kamarul as new CEO
Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) has appointed Noor Kamarul Anuar Nuruddin as its new managing director/group chief executive officer/ executive director, effective June 13, 2019.
In a statement today, TM chairperson Rosli Man said the group was confident that with his wealth of experience, expertise and industry know-how, Noor Kamarul was fully capable of taking TM forward into the future and explore new frontiers of growth.
“We will continue with our ongoing transformation journey and execute the strategic initiatives planned to assist TM in navigating through the current challenges and position us in a more resilient, competitive and sustainable footing,” he said.
Noor Kamarul, 60, has 34 years of experience in managing telecommunication networks and services in Malaysia and Indonesia, focusing on fixed network, mobile network and mobile broadband services.
He was a member of Celcom Axiata Bhd’s (Celcom) senior management team in driving the turnaround of Celcom with 31 quarters of consecutive growth from 2003 to March 2018.
He joined Celcom (Malaysia) Bhd in 2003 as chief technology officer, a post he held for about seven years, before assuming senior positions with Celcom Axiata Bhd, including as chief information technology and transformation officer, chief carrier collaboration officer and chief special project officer, which he held from January 2015 to March last year.
TM's shares on the Bursa Malaysia today closed seven sen higher at RM3.81.
