Ean Yong appointed as new Port Klang Authority chief

Former Selangor executive council member Ean Yong Hian Wah has been appointed as the Port Klang Authority (PKA) chairperson.

He received royal assent from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and his two-year tenure began on May 18.

Ean Yong, 40, is a three-term Selangor lawmaker for Seri Kembangan. He is also formerly the Selangor DAP leader.

The previous PKA chairperson was former transport minister Kong Cho Ha, who resigned in July last year. During the BN administration, the PKA chairpersonship was reserved for senior MCA politicians.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke attributed Ean Yong's appointment to his experience in government and the corporate sector.

Meanwhile, the Agong also appointed Rosnan Fathlal as the Johor Port Authority and Johor Port Authority (Tanjung Pelepas) chairperson.

Rosnan, a civil servant with experience in the Marine Department, is also on a two-year contract which began on April 14.

Loke said Rosnan has shipbuilding experience, and has been involved in the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) and other foreign maritime organisations.
