Contractors who mistreat workers to go on Education Ministry blacklist
The Education Ministry is considering blacklisting contractors who are unfair and mistreat workers, its minister Maszlee Malik said today.
The ministry, Maszlee said, will review policies and contract procedures to ensure such contractors are strictly penalised.
He said this in a statement issued after holding a meeting with the Government Contract Workers Network (GCWN) today to discuss the issues of cleaners and security guards at schools.
In the meeting, the minister gave his assurance that he would bring up the issues raised to the Finance Ministry to obtain additional allocations.
He said the ministry would also bring the suggestions submitted by GCWN to the attention of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the Public Service Department.
