Worker in Subang airport runway accident dies
A worker involved in yesterday's runway accident at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang passed away this evening.
"After two days of intensive medical care, the victim, Mohd Ruzaimi Iskandar Ahmad Razali, 39, passed away at 6.45pm today leaving behind a wife, Nor Azawiah Md Usuf, and four children aged from 1 to 13 years old.
"Ruzaimi was a dedicated staff and fully committed to his work. He stood out amongst his peers and the management as a talented individual with exemplary work ethics.
"His passing is a tragic loss," Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) said in a statement today.
MAHB CEO Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin said the company is extending its support to the family and facilitating funeral arrangements.
"Our priority is to ensure that the comfort and welfare of the family are taken care of."
Ruzaimi was the driver of an engineering vehicle at the airport. He was mortally wounded when his vehicle was involved in a runway accident with a private aircraft at 3.20am on March 18.
MAHB had said earlier that investigations are underway, and that it is working closely with the Civil Aviation Authority to determine the cause of the accident.
Subsequent work to clear debris of the accident from the runway had resulted in delays to several flights until operations resumed at 9am that day.
