PAS man: Guan Eng must answer if there's a plot to topple Dr M

Selangor PAS election director Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir has questioned the existence of a plot to remove Dr Mahathir Mohamad as prime minister.

He wants DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to respond.

“Is it true that DAP wants to stab (Mahathir) in the back and topple the prime minister through a vote of no confidence because it has lost confidence in Mahathir?

“Is it true that (PKR president) Anwar Ibrahim and (vice-president) Rafizi Ramli are willing to support (the move) because they are not confident of Mahathir passing the premiership to Anwar?

“Answer this, Guan Eng. There is no need to trouble (PAS president) Abdul Hadi Awang because he is not the catalyst, it is you and DAP,” he added in an article in Harakah Online today.

According to Roslan, DAP is concerned over losing its influence with Bersatu opening its doors to former Umno lawmakers.

“If this (influx of ex-Umno MPs) continues, it would strengthen Bersatu's position in the Pakatan Harapan government and minimise the dominance of DAP and non-Muslim representatives in the government,” he added.

Roslan said PAS is prepared to cooperate with any quarter to ensure the unity of the Muslim community and a dominant Islamic government in Malaysia.

Yesterday, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the Islamist party has pledged to support Mahathir in the event of a “betrayal” within Harapan.

He said the "draft letter" signed during a recent meeting between the premier and PAS top leadership in Kuala Lumpur was a declaration of the party's support for Mahathir.

Apart from Takiyuddin, other PAS leaders present at Friday's meeting with Mahathir were Hadi and Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.
