After social media lashing, Lim Kok Wing quits Twitter
Public relations guru Lim Kok Wing (photo, above) appears to have disabled his Twitter account.
Attempts to access his personal Twitter page resulted in a message from the social media platform that the page doesn't exist.
Lim's exit from Twitter comes after a lashing he received from activist Marina Mahathir earlier today in response to a tweet from him praising her father, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Lim tweeted this morning that Mahathir was "absolutely right in saying that we just need to set our hearts and minds on achieving greater goals to be a great nation."
Marina responded with a tweet of her own and accused Lim of being critical of Mahathir just last year.
"If Pakatan Harapan hadn’t won, would you have snuck into our house uninvited at Raya to apologise? Just stop it," wrote Marina (below).
Similarly, most of those who responded to Lim's tweet had accused him of apple-polishing now that Mahathir was back in power.
Mahathir himself jibed that he was only receiving support because he was in power.
"We know some people look for the easy way. When someone is in power, they support them.
"When I had no power they did not support me. When I am back in power, they support me," he said.
However, he said he was also a forgiving man when asked if he would forgive Lim.
In 2015, Mahathir had written a blog post about a friend-turned-foe that likely alluded to Lim.
Mahathir said that the friend had attempted to persuade him to stop criticising then prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.
"He warned if I continue I would lose my legacy. I told him what people think of my legacy, if there is any, is not important. I am concerned about what is happening in the country. Our good reputation is being eroded.
"He repeated several times that I would lose my legacy. I really appreciated his concern. He is a friend and I felt he cared for me. We parted as friends," he added in his blog.
