LETTER | Eradicating graft: Kudos to Sultan Ibrahim

LETTER | Both news and social media platforms celebrate with fervent hope the message from the Johor ruler, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar who has vowed to eradicate corruption in Malaysia.

His Majesty's thoughts and commitment as reported widely and shared on social media platforms are most timely, igniting newfound hope for the nation.

Patriot, since its inception seven years ago, stood tall in championing patriotism and national unity in the face of political instability.

We salute His Majesty for his honesty, openness and courageous leadership.

In our quest for truth, courage and country, we too celebrate the good news conveyed by His Majesty in his exclusive interview with a Singaporean daily.

Patriot remains steadfast with His Majesty's view that "unity in the country will also be among his greatest challenges".

Sultan Ibrahim is spot on with his analysis "that a stable government must have consistent, sustainable policies needed to improve the country's economy".

And we endorse that "the main reason for the country's political instability is triggered by 'saboteurs' or certain groups who lost in the general elections".

Patriot has always condemned political patronage, political funding and obligations exercised by political leaders and stands by His Majesty to free the nation of such practices where hundreds of millions of ringgit are involved before the elections.

Many like-minded citizens and NGOs have battled corruption in the country and are yet to see desirable results.

Hence, Sultan Ibrahim’s vow to eradicate corruption in Malaysia as one of his key priorities when he is installed as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong in January has Patriot's unwavering commitment and support.

In this regard, we are determined to continue to push ahead with our agenda of patriotism and national harmony and join the nation in prayer “Long live our king”.
