LETTER | A paradise for town folk

LETTER | Taman Rakyat, nestled in the swathe of Taman Seri Andalas, is a paradise for the folk in the vicinity.

The lush greenery provides a much-needed green lung for all, and a place for the health buffs.

Daily at ground zero, the Klang folks will be seen flocking and getting involved in a variety of activities.

There will be a group doing the Ying and Yang movements, while another two groups will be actively performing the Zumba exercises.

It would be good if the volume of the sound of the music played could be reduced a bit though.

During the weekends, there will be a sizeable number of people seen partaking in it.

Not to mention, there is another group along the hilly terrain performing Tai Chi, I gather from their movements, accompanied by a lot of speech therapy.

In fact, there is a host of this slow-motion kind of controlled movement on the left-hand side of the park.

Not missing out on the action, is a group of graceful dancers practising the dance steps meticulously to a variety of songs.

There will be a leader with the head-worn mike saying 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. And so the beat goes on.

‘Beautiful pond’

I stick to my regime of walking along the 1km track and it encompasses the pond, while at the same time, enjoying the variety of music being played in the area.

The walking track in fact has three tiers. The second and third tracks are for the more adventurous ones. It could be deserted at times, and it is advisable not to walk alone.

Talking about the pond, it is a safe haven for tortoises and fish. The water level of the pond needs to be monitored during the dry spell so that the temperature of the pond doesn't soar to unfavourable levels, and be a threat to their survival.

The upkeep of the pond could be looked into on a more regular basis.

In general, the park is well-maintained. The town council needs to be lauded for overseeing it.

A pack of a dozen dogs too are an integral part of the mix. They, in general, mind their own business, and are accepted by those frequenting the area.

In fact, these canines are well taken care of by some good Samaritans, providing "breakfast" for them.

Klang folks are fortunate to have this park for their recreational activities; an avenue to destress and recharge themselves on a daily basis.
