LETTER | Kick out the recycled, stubborn faces in GE15

LETTER | We all know that the 15th general election (GE15) is rather different from all the previous general elections we have had in our beloved nation.

The rakyat are smarter and more critical-minded in their voting decision. The mood is even more intense. Many ordinary people are extremely tired of the previous governments tested, regardless of which party/parties held power.

No longer can all the rakyat be swayed into believing that this coalition is better than the other. The majority are not gullible enough to be tricked into all those empty and false promises.

As the general public laments, they are all the same if not worst.

What should be done is to try and choose the candidate based on individual criteria. Candidates who are genuinely willing to assist the rakyat in the most sincere manner meaning, to not simply brush aside their pleas for help, to protect the interests of the rakyat, and to be fair towards everybody who needs a helping hand.

If the candidate has a colourful track record, well, that is a bonus of course.

Most importantly, the candidate must not be an implied corrupt leader. It is an open secret that corruption is widely rampant in every political party, but while those highlighted in the media are caught, the fishes not netted are jumping joyfully, profusely denying their fishiness and professing to be self-righteously clean.

It is time to seriously change our mindset in voting if we truly love our blessed country, and those whom we dearly care for and the lives of ordinary people.

Otherwise, it might be a bit too late to do something. We surely do not want our future generations to spit on our graves for our stupidity and ignorance.

Time to vote for candidates who can grow to be great MPs and state assemblypersons. And, if they fail to do so, they must suffer the fate of not getting re-elected ever again.

Do not be influenced by which party or coalition. The number of candidates that total the most from any coalition then naturally forms the government.

However, should the results cause a mixed government, then that will definitely be not unusual given the circumstance that arose when the Pakatan Harapan government collapsed that day.

Independent candidates

As for the independent candidates, if there are many unfamiliar faces, the rakyat must not be lazy to check their background and potential.

Unlike those candidates backed by party funds and campaign machinery, they have to fight with their own resources and hard-earned funds.

To cast them aside just like that is so heartless. They have bravely offered themselves in GE15. Give them applause for their sheer determination.

Independent candidates must be fairly given due consideration and respect. Surely they realise how difficult it is for Bebas candidates to be appreciated and evaluated just like those contesting from registered parties.

Malaysia can actually grow a magnificent pool of leaders from independents, who can even act as an effective check and balance.

Voters! Lend me your ears! Take matters immediately! Wipe out the recycled stubborn faces who persist for multiple terms, who refuse to step down and allow other potential leaders a chance. Change our voting attitudes in GE15.

Knock off the candidates wanting to stay on despite not performing their jobs well. Retire those useless candidates who can only talk and play politics while us rakyat continue to watch their nonsensical behaviours.

It is our choice to vote intelligently and wisely! We do what is right and not what others coerce us to do. Come!
