LETTER | Patriot appeals to voters to have some dignity

LETTER | Patriot takes careful note of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's claim that voters will be enticed by bribes - incentives, enticements and inducements - that would be dished out at the campaign trails of the 15th general election.

True or unfounded, one would be wise not to naively dismiss Tun's remark.

Looking at past elections, it will be no surprise if Umno entices voters with freebies and cash handouts. Patriot appeals to all voters to have some dignity this time around.

Have some shame for your children and grandchildren, if not, for the future of our country.

While in past elections, the mantra was "Take the handouts but don't cast a single vote for the corrupt briber", Patriot upholds that everyone should in the very first place not even accept any of these cash and goodie bag enticements that may be handed out.

Whether by the teachings of religions or standards of universal principles, the acceptance of anything that is unlawful, deceitful and corruptible is wrong and is condemned.

It is high time Malaysians stood tall for the good of the nation's future. Let us have some dignity within ourselves.

It is high time that we grew out of this small-minded action of selling our precious votes for bribes.

Patriot warns that this practice of continuing to accept such inducements will eventually destroy this beloved nation.

It will become, ultimately, an irreversible disorder that undermines the Constitution and the monarchy, and punctures the pillars of democracy.

Patriot further warns that it is mobilising its teams to monitor any such instances of voter bribery and voter gullibility and will expose such despicable acts of betrayal against the people, King and nation without fear or favour.
