LETTER | Stop speculating over who will be new MB

LETTER | Following the uncertainty over the appointment of the new Johor menteri besar, rumour mills are once again working overtime with numerous allegations and baseless accusations being hurled.

Up till now, there is no clear certainty as to why Hasni Mohammad will not continue as the Johor menteri besar.

However, as usual, the so-called keyboard political warriors are busy spreading their own set of lies and deceit to further spurn hatred and anger among not only political party members, but also the Johor electorate.

There has been no announcement of the new MB, but social media is already abuzz with speculations, among whom include newly elected Machap assemblyperson Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

Some rumour mills even went a point further to allege that Onn Hafiz was being touted as the new MB as he was part of a greater plan allegedly masterminded by former Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein.

Just because Onn Hafiz is Hishammuddin's nephew does not immediately mean the latter is lobbying for him.

Almost everyone in Umno is aware that Hishammuddin was campaigning closely with Hasni during the Johor state election and there should not be blind accusations against him.

Anyone could be behind this recent turn of events – it could even be the work of Bossku who still has support among Umno members despite all his wrongdoings which are being showcased to the world right now.

As a political observer, I must say it is greatly disturbing and disappointing that so many allegations and malicious rumours are being circulated.

Social media has turned into a battleground of lies and deceit which nobody should take into consideration.

It is crystal clear what is being done here - a ploy by certain Umno haters to create disharmony and anger ahead of this weekend's general assembly.

These haters who are abusing social media are merely out to create chaos and disunity over the weekend.

Implicating the likes of Hishammuddin, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and other party leaders without any basis give rise to unnecessary tension and unease which is what certain quarters are out to stir up.

I would like to humbly urge all quarters to refrain from any finger-pointing and to wait for the official statement from the rightful parties.

I am sure there are valid reasons which the party leadership will clarify in due time over what is transpiring now.
