LETTER | For me, shocking news about Bersatu's plan to sack Zuraida
LETTER | I was shocked when I read reports this morning that Bersatu was contemplating sacking our Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin.
What is worse, Bersatu is also pushing for her to give up her ministership as they claimed the post belongs to Bersatu.
As a key player in the plantations sector, I am truly upset and disgusted by this report.
Firstly, Zuraida is truly a minister who has been working tooth and nail for the industry and since she took over, the prices of our commodities, especially palm oil, have soared tremendously.
Figures cannot lie, so there is nothing to deny.
Just compare the figures and you will understand why those in the industry want Zuraida to be retained as long as possible.
From major players to smallholders, we have all benefitted since she took over the ministry and we are taken aback over reports that certain quarters want her to be removed.
What about non-performing ministers in the cabinet? What about those embroiled in corrupt allegations, and what about those allegedly involved in sexual scandals?
Why go after a minister who is actually working and bringing about so many improvements to the plantations and commodities sector?
There is no proof at all that she is leaving Bersatu and already there are those within the party inciting others to remove her.
Please, I appeal to the prime minister not to disrupt the hard work Zuraida has been putting in for the industry and not to listen to those trouble-makers.
The plantation and commodities sector needs a go-getter like Zuraida and she has our full backing.
