LETTER | Anwar failed yet again, so what now?

LETTER | According to a report, four divisional Amanah Youth chiefs have called on the Pakatan Harapan leadership to be accountable for its past blunders and go back to the drawing board.

Amanah is at war with PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim following his failure to dethrone Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Anwar hoped to be prime minister even before the 14th general election should Pakatan Harapan win the election.

War within Harapan first started when Dr Mahathir Mohamad was reluctant to hand over the prime minister post when pressed by Anwar's faction.

Then, in the midst of the Harapan fiasco, Mahathir resigned and Muhyiddin Yassin, together with Azmin Ali, pulled out of Harapan and formed the PN government with BN and PAS.

Out of the blue, Muhyiddin became the eighth prime minister, and Anwar bit the dust. Soon after, a second war erupted in Harapan.

Then along came Ahmad Zahid Hamidi promising Anwar the moon and the sun. Anwar was so cocksure that his moment has finally come that he and his black street boys ignored the pandemic rules and adamantly took to the street.

He was so confident that the prime minister post will be his that he just snobbishly laughed at Muhyiddin's offer of truce.

Nonetheless, Anwar was jilted by Zahid at the eleventh hour. Instead, Ismail Sabri Yaakob triumphed as the ninth prime minister. Again, Anwar was forced to lick his wound.

Now certain quarters in PKR and Amanah are calling for the removal of Anwar for misleading them that he would win the prime minister post for them.

Maybe it’s time for Anwar to consider quitting as he has let down Harapan so many times. And many times, too, he was involved in confrontations.

Anwar was implicated in endless demonstrations, street battles, Bersih rallies, black flag gangs, and whatnot.

Maybe his reformasi confrontational ways do not go down well with the Malaysian people.

Maybe people are just sick and tired of pouring emotions on the streets. It’s always war and war and war and war.

Maybe certain leaders in Harapan are looking at other alternatives or making Anwar change his warmongering styles.

But perhaps, there's nothing much he can do when 60 percent of his name spelt WAR.
