LETTER | Limkokwing University addressing MQA concerns

LETTER | Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT) is aware of the news circulating on social media and newspapers in regards to our academic programmes' accreditation status.

LUCT is a renowned university and has been established for more than 30 years. It is one of the first private universities that has been upgraded to a full-fledged university in Malaysia and currently operating internationally in many other countries.

With this standing, LUCT is very concerned and sensitive with issues as it has been its principle to provide the best education to its students. Moreover, LUCT hosts the largest number of international students in the country.

LUCT had undergone audit processes for academic programmes early this year. Out of the 98 programmes, eight postgraduate programmes were not being approved for accreditation extension.

These eight programmes had full accreditation since 2010. However, LUCT has been given 30 days to appeal this decision or to submit new documents for re-audit processes. LUCT's management is taking immediate action to rectify all issues raised by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

LUCT regrets the sentiment made by relevant parties that sensationalised this issue and portrayed a serious situation with LUCT's academic programme accreditation.

Accreditation and audit are a continuous exercise and LUCT always ensures that all programmes offered are registered with the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and fully accredited by the MQA as well as other professional and accreditation bodies locally and internationally.

The above is issued by the chairperson of LUCT's University Governing Council.
