LETTER | A win for all Malaysians
LETTER | Congratulations to the World Games' Greatest Athlete of All Time, our very own Nicol David.
The former squash world number one truly deserves the title for her contributions to the country. There is no doubt about it. It really is another feather in her cap.
It is also a shimmer of light and a breath of fresh air in the midst of the nation’s battle against the Covid-19 pandemic.
What must also be noted is our togetherness. We were united in our efforts to help vote to ensure she won the gold.
The build-up to the final tally for the poll got most Malaysians excited and thrilled with regards to the prospect of her bagging the top prize.
It was that spirit of unity that brought all of us closer regardless of differences. We were united to ensure Nicol won the accolade. We were one in our vote and support for a Malaysian on the verge of clinching the GOAT.
It was a matter of national pride.
I would like to remind Malaysians that the very happiness we feel for Nicol’s win is actually patriotism for our country. Translate whatever positivity her achievement brings to spread unity among the community.
We are all aspiring towards a shared objective of harmony, peace and unity, and in these trying times, we must put aside any differences that we have and channel all efforts to help the government and frontliners in their battle against the Covid-19 Pandemic.
The very same display of unity in which we showed for Nicol will be our pillar of strength as we weather the Covid-19 pandemic together.
