Ban drivers for fitting 'killer spikes' to their wheels
LETTER | Recently, I was shocked to find a Perodua Kenari in Taman Maluri, Kuala Lumpur with spikes protruding from the wheel rims.
On closer inspection, the wheel nuts had been replaced with metal spikes. If they brush against a motorcyclist or pillion rider, the rotating spikes could easily amputate a leg.
These “Wheel nut Wheels Rims Spikes Lug Nuts 20 piece kereta tayar purple” as advertised on a popular e-commerce website are priced at RM79.80.
The authorities should nip the problem in the bud by taking swift action against vehicles fitted with these spikes before they become more popular and cause grave injuries on our roads.
