Telekom Malaysia must improve broadband speed
LETTER | The Malaysia Consumers Movement (MCM) welcomes Telekom Malaysia (TM) recent announcement that it will be reducing the price of 8Mbps Streamyx plan from RM160 a month to RM69 for existing customers and RM89 for new customers. Commendation also to the minister Gobind Singh Deo for his leadership in driving this initiative.
While the price is a factor, the slow and unstable broadband speed issue is more critical and has left thousands of subscribers frustrated and angry for a very long time, be it for Streamyx or Unifi service.
The MCM continues to receive subscriber complaints that they are not getting value for money service while unfairly being tied to subscription agreements without a proper exit clause.
The current price reduction offer will only make sense if slow and unstable broadband speed is parallelly improved without which the MCM will consider it a mere crumb to appease frustrated and angry consumers.
The MCM would therefore call upon TM to improve its infrastructure as a of priority and keep their subscribers happy.
