Meet the panelists:

Datuk Shahul Dawood, CE, Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp)

Datuk Shahul Dawood was appointed as the Chief Executive (CE) of HRD Corp on 15 April 2020.

As the CE of HRD Corp, he was responsible for leading the organisation’s transformation agenda. This was marked by HRDF’s successful rebranding to HRD Corp in December 2021 and the biggest expansion of the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad Act 2001 to date, which now covers employers in 18 sectors and 238 subsectors.

Under his leadership, HRD Corp also introduced a number of new stakeholder-friendly policies that are geared towards strengthening the organisation’s speed, agility and transparency. As someone passionate about digitalisation in the training landscape, he also took HRD Corp through its digital and human capital transformation.

Derek Toh, Founder & CEO, Hiredly

Derek Toh is the Founder & CEO of Hiredly, an online job portal that utilises the O2O (online to offline) concept to connect job seekers to the right job at the right company.

Derek is also currently the host of Hello Mentor podcast where he helps his audience learn from the top achievers in Malaysia. His guests have included Datin Dian Lee, Zee Avi, Julian Yee and Bella Kuan.

Prior to that, Derek was an accountant, and later became an Associate Director at Robert Walters, where he was recognised as a Global Top Performer. He was also a speaker at a debate moderated by BBC World News and has been interviewed on major media platforms including Astro, The Edge, Focus Malaysia, and BFM.

Chai Ping, Human Resources Director, Experian

Chai Ping joined Experian as the Human Resources Director in their Global Development Centre in Kuala Lumpur in June 2017.   In November the same year, she was asked to assume the role of Country Site Leader (GM Designate)  in Experian, providing overall leadership for the centre locally.  Over a career that spans more than 20 years, she joined the “Big 4” fraternity in Consulting before her foray into HR, providing strategic direction and driving the people agenda with the business.  During her tenure in Accenture, she was the Country HR Lead of Malaysia & Vietnam and subsequently became the Asia Pacific HR Lead for Accenture Strategy, rolling out the Accenture Growth Model where Accenture reorganised its global operating structures.  She also played a key role in leading and managing Accenture’s International Women’s Day and was awarded Champion of the Accenture Global Inclusion & Diversity Excellence Award in 2013.

Prior to joining Experian, Chai Ping was the HR Director of Mondelėz Malaysia.  In addition, Chai Ping is one of TalentCorp’s Diversity Advocates and has been featured in various publications and the media.  She is a Member of the MIHRM National Council, Mentor for LeadWomen/Women In Leadership programme and Mentor for the APEC Women in Transportation Mentoring Programme.  In August 2017, Chai Ping was bestowed the Asia HRD - Contribution to HR Community Award 2017.  Most recently in November 2018, she won TalentCorp Life At Work CEO Champion Award.  Most recently, under her helm, Experian is the recipient of the HR Excellence Awards 2019, Asia Recruitment Awards 2019 and also the HR Asia Awards for the 5th consecutive year in 2021.
