COMMENT | Suggestions for getting children back to school safely
COMMENT | The variability and capacity of different schools is vast in Malaysia – from private or international schools that could put in place more prevention measures to rural national schools with limited resources. The most important thing to keep schools safe is to reduce Covid-19 transmission in the community.
The three keys to bringing children safely back to schools are:
1. Maintaining a strong focus on preventing a child from getting infected (the key is to avoid getting infected).
2. Parents working very closely with teachers and school administration to get the school and students ready and to maintain ongoing safety measures.
A joint working committee between parents and the school is vital with a designated Covid-19 supervisor.
3. Supporting children from poorer families.
