KPJ Healthcare Renews Collaboration with OrphanCare Foundation

KPJ Healthcare Berhad ("KPJ Healthcare" or “Group”) is pleased to announce the renewal of its Memorandum of Cooperation (“MoC”) with OrphanCare Foundation (“OrphanCare”). This collaboration reaffirms KPJ Healthcare's dedication to support the welfare of vulnerable children, underscoring its promise to 'Care for Life'.

KPJ Healthcare's partnership with OrphanCare began with the first MoC signed in 2014, under the patronage of the then Sultanah of Pahang, Cik Puan Besar Hajjah Kalsom Abdullah. Guided by the Foundation’s belief that ‘Every Child Needs a Family’, the partnership, last renewed in 2020, has been a key part of our efforts to enhance child welfare.

OrphanCare, established in 2012, collaborates with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development to streamline the adoption process, ensuring vulnerable children are placed with suitable parents efficiently. Cik Puan Besar Hajjah Kalsom Abdullah launched the initial KPJ Baby Hatch programme and witnessed the signing of the first MoC in 2014.

The Baby Hatch initiative, launched at KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital (“KPJ Ipoh”) in 2012, is now active in five KPJ specialist hospitals — KPJ Ipoh, KPJ Damansara, KPJ Tawakkal, KPJ Seremban and KPJ Perdana. To date, 46 babies have been received through this initiative, demonstrating its ongoing success in providing a safe haven for abandoned infants.

Chin Keat Chyuan, President and Managing Director of KPJ Healthcare, said, “Renewing our collaboration with OrphanCare Foundation demonstrates our deep commitment to social responsibility and patient-centric care. The Baby Hatch initiative is vital for the safety and future of these infants. We are committed to providing a nurturing environment for every child alongside OrphanCare. By supporting their mission, we ensure that every vulnerable infant has the chance to grow up in a loving family.”

The signing ceremony was attended by key representatives from both organisations, including Dato' Mohamad Farid Salim, Chief Operating Officer of KPJ Healthcare; Dr. Rafiza Mohamed Nazir, Head of Clinical Governance of KPJ Healthcare; Tan Sri Faizah Mohd Tahir, Chairman of OrphanCare Foundation; and Noraini Hashim, Trustee of OrphanCare Foundation.

KPJ Healthcare continues to deliver compassionate healthcare services, extending its patient-centric philosophy beyond hospital walls to positively impact those in need.
