KOPETRO signs a strategic agreement with Blueshark, an EV tech mobility company

Putrajaya, 26 June 2023 - Koperasi Kakitangan PETRONAS Berhad (KOPETRO), through its subsidiary, KOPETRO Trading Sdn. Bhd. entered into a strategic partnership with Blueshark Ecosystem Sdn Bhd (Blueshark), a local Electric Vehicle (EV) tech mobility company, in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) exchange ceremony held at The Everly Hotel.

Blueshark is an EV technology company that is a leader in providing electric mobility and energy solutions worldwide. As the Malaysian subsidiary of the Sharkgulf Technology Group, Blueshark is driven by technology leadership with more than 130 filed invention patents, Internet of Vehicles (IoV), smart partners, and innovation in the latest energy solutions.

KOPETRO chairman, Roslan Abdul Rahim said, the two parties will be in sync to make this advanced EV technology more accessible to KOPETRO members such as the company's Blueshark R1 smart electric scooter.

"Both organisations will be working in coherence to promote, market, and manage orders from KOPETRO members. This includes supporting marketing campaigns, financing arrangements, and product education and training," said Roslan in his speech.

Roslan added that one of the important aspects of signing this agreement is to increase awareness and acceptance of electric mobility among KOPETRO members and encourage the adoption of green vehicles. This initiative also helps achieve sustainability goals and accelerate Malaysia's transition to a more sustainable low-carbon economy.

The MoU ceremony witnessed Wan Ahmad Tarmizi Wan Abd Rahman, Chairman of KOPETRO Trading Sdn. Bhd., exchanged the MoU document with the Group Chief Executive Officer (ASEAN) of Blueshark Ecosystem Sdn Bhd, Jeff Chong.

According to Jeff Chong, the Blueshark R series smart electric scooter range which was officially launched earlier this year, spearheads the company's effort to bring sustainable and innovative solutions to the urban mobility market, with swappable battery technology and best-in-class innovation.

"We are delighted to initiate this partnership with KOPETRO where this forward-looking and momentous collaboration will make the most advanced EV technology, features and aesthetics even more accessible to KOPETRO members, enabling smart electromobility for all towards a more liveable, greener future," said Jeff Chong, Group Chief Executive Officer (ASEAN) of Blueshark Ecosystem Sdn Bhd.

Through this partnership, KOPETRO members who are interested in getting an electric scooter produced by Blueshark can purchase or rent it at the market price, or acquire one with the help of Konsumer-i financing from KOPETRO. Konsumer-i is a shariah-compliant financing from KOPETRO with a profit rate starting at 4.5%* per year with a financing period of up to 5 years.
