IJM Land shares blessings of Ramadan with local community

SEREMBAN, 25 APRIL 2023 – Embracing the true meaning of compassion and empathy in this month of blessings, IJM Seremban 2 is back with its annual Program Mesra Ramadan specifically for its  Seremban community. This initiative is aimed at providing relief to impoverished and underprivileged families to go through this blessed Ramadan month with ease in the hopes that it will lead to a more meaningful Raya celebration despite the unfortunate circumstances they are currently facing.

For years, IJM Seremban 2 has a reputation for backing and supporting local charities, and this year, the property developer initiated the programme by identifying six impoverished households in Seremban who are struggling making ends meet. IJM Seremban 2 contributed a box of kindness filled with basic necessities including grocery items worth RM600 such as rice, cooking oil, Raya cookies, noodles and RM1,000 duit Raya.

Mr Chai Kian Soon, Senior General Manager of IJM Land Berhad shared that doing these little contributions to bring joy and smiles to the families is one of their ways of staying committed to their goal in supporting and uplifting the Seremban community.

“As Muslims around the world are preparing for the upcoming festive season, we realised that this may not be the case for many others. Our beneficiaries have a hard time trying to get through the day, let alone thinking of celebrating Hari Raya. We hope that our small contribution will assist them in elevating their lives, cheer them up, and provide them with the opportunity to celebrate Raya just like everyone else,” said Mr Chai.

Some of the beneficiaries to receive help from this year’s Program Mesra Ramadan include the recipient of IJM Land Home Rehabilitation Programme (myHome) 2022, Hazizi bin Hussain, a 47-year-old storekeeper diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure struggling to support his family. His wife was diagnosed with Stage 2 thyroid cancer and among their five children, one is autistic, and the another two have learning difficulties. Another beneficiary, Siti Marina Binti Soroh, is a 48-year-old single mother of two, who works part-time earning a menial income. IJM Seremban 2 also aided Maszura Binti Amir Sharuddin, 47, a single mother who is struggling to support her four children with an average income of RM800 selling desserts; Rosita Binti Latiri, a 54-year-old single mother working as a tailor with an average monthly income of RM700 to support her two children who are still in school; Harith Iskandar Raj Bin Abdullah, 49, a heart disease patient who was laid off from work in 2020 has five dependents to care for. Harith’s wife helps by selling kuih muih or murukku from orders she sometimes received to help ease their burden, for out of his four children, three of them are still schooling. Jamilah Binti Bohari, a 46-year-old single mother (with a schooling child) suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney problem, is currently undergoing dialysis treatment and was  also diagnosed with a slip disc which she needs to rely on a hoist to lift herself up. Unable to receive medical treatment from a government hospital, Jamilah relies on her late husband’s compensation of RM800 a month from Socso.

“Underprivileged families require any form of assistance from the community, and this is what we are trying to help with. At IJM Seremban 2, we strive to lend a helping hand in improving their lives that will also contribute to a peace of mind. As always, we are grateful for the opportunity to help others and we hope to continue bringing positive changes to the Seremban community,” concluded Mr Chai.

Program Mesra Ramadan has been held annually since 2018 for the benefit of the community, and IJM Seremban 2 intends to keep up its efforts by supporting those in need through a variety of charitable endeavours for months to come.
