FMM-Taiwan Excellence to Strengthen Collaboration in Metal Processing 4.0

9th November 2022, Kuala Lumpur: The pandemic has fastened the requirements and acceptance of businesses in stepping towards industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing has become today’s top concern.

To better embrace Industry 4.0, Taiwan Excellence, the symbol of Taiwan’s most innovative products, has teamed up with Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) to share valuable insights on the prominence of smart manufacturing in gearing towards the industry 4.0 revolution during the “Toward Metal Processing 4.0” webinar on Nov 9th.

Three winners of Taiwan Excellence Award-AXILE, AXISCO, and HONOR SEIKI shared their iconic products and solutions during the webinar. AXILE introduced its industry 4.0 management solution-“ART” which can realize real-time monitoring on production process, machine tools and components condition to improve production performance and reduce power consumption; AXISCO presented its servo broaching machine which uses servo motor to effectively reduce power losses. The HMI interface can simplify operation procedure, and make operators approach high-precision with ease; HONOR’s vertical lathes and aviation processing solutions are equipped with a smart cutter management system to massively reduce the time to change cutters, and improve the production accuracy and efficiency.

Dr. Helena Eian Yeut Lan, Vice Chairman of the Digital Economy Working Committee at the FMM, mentioned that there are 1,268 companies have approved to join the Industry4WRD Readiness Assessment programme till Oct 2022 while fabricated metal products are the 3rd highest sub-sectors involved. She expected Malaysia & Taiwan could have a closer cooperation leveraged with Taiwan’s latest smart solution.

Taiwan Trade Center of KL director Eva Peng stated that Taiwan is one of the most important global machine tool suppliers. Taiwan’s machine tools makers have the advantages of customization and integration, drawing on the firm foundation of Taiwan’s renowned ICT industry to fit the demands of modern manufacturing. It is expected that Taiwan and Malaysia can cooperate on new solutions and collaborate to upgrade the machinery industry.

The webinar also introduced “Taiwan International Intelligent Manufacturing Show” (TIIM) which is going to be held at the ICC, Tainan, Taiwan on Nov 23. The show will present the latest and most advanced solutions including machine vision, AI sensing and controlling, and various AR, VR, and MR applications, to help manufacturers improve production performance and flexibility.
