Academia To Industry: Nanocat researchers’ products meet industry demand

NANOCAT researchers have used nanotechnology and developed three Iron Oxide products in a sustainable manner for industry usage.  Established in 2012, NANOCAT has always strived to be a leader in nanotechnology, and the research focus shifted from the academic research paradigm toward commercialization. Leading a team of 5 researchers, Prof. Dr. Rafie Johan the Director himself believes that all research conducted should be able to benefit mankind in a cheap and sustainable manner. The Iron oxide nanoparticles are produced in a pilot plant that is situated in UMX with up to 100kg capacity production per day. These nanoparticles are then modified/improved for different industry usage.

NANOCAT™IronAgro are used as a Plant Iron Supplement. It has an average size of 20 nm increases adsorption (foliar and root) with less loss enhancing Fe ion bioavailability.

NANOCAT™Ironcoat are added as additives in Paint Pigment. These paint as a protective coating on steel and polymer with metal and magnetic properties.

NANOCAT™IronMedic comes in a sterilized pack and are used as a contrast agent in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic particle imaging (MPI). This product is currently undergoing endotoxin, oral and dermal toxicity studies in order to be safe for humans.
