Your big chance to try out a university classroom
How much can we learn in a university classroom in two days?
Quite a lot, especially in a world-class university and with top-notch lecturers.
For school-leavers to get a taste of this, UOW Malaysia KDU has prepared a once-in-a-lifetime chance for them to immerse themselves in a university classroom.
This privilege will help them see and feel for themselves what tertiary education entails, allowing them to make informed decisions on what and how they wish to study in their years to come.
The campuses' Classroom Experience is open to all school-leavers at no charge. As per UOW Malaysia KDU's high-level observance of Covid-19 precautions, however, each class is limited to only 25 students; so do not procrastinate and sign up quickly if you agree that a sneak preview into university learning is of value to you.
The classes will happen on April 23 and 24. There will be a class each in Penang and Selangor.
A bevy of lecturers will lead you in a wide variety of subjects from 10am to 4pm.
IF YOU CHOOSE SELANGOR
Your morning begins with a session on "Code Makers & Code Breakers".
Aside from the languages we use when interacting with humans, there are other languages used when we must talk with machines. They are called codes.
This session will show you the science of codes, a piece of knowledge so important in the wired world.
The other sessions of Day One include "Branding Ideas...", "Intro to 2D Character Rendering" and "Money Management", in which students may find new insights into the value of money and how to stretch that ringgit to get the most out of it.
Day Two in the Selangor Classroom begins with "Creative Mocktails".
This session is a culinary enlightenment in the field of mixology: the art of blending a stunning variety of flavours to produce a beverage that will be a delight to the palate.
The other sessions include "What is Creative Business all about?", "Computer-Aided Engineering", and "Personal Financing".
IF YOU CHOOSE PENANG
Your morning begins with a session on "Still-Life Drawing".
Anybody can draw well; it just takes knowledge of the basic principles and some practice. Knowing how to draw enhances your expressive abilities.
The other sessions in Day One includes "Branding Ideas...", "Fun with Arduino" (a coding software that lets you invent games), and "Money Management".
Day Two in the Penang Classroom begins with "How to impress your guests; five essential soft skills in a career in hospitality and tourism".
This session will show you what it takes to be pleasing and help who you meet feel at home and relaxed with you.
The other sessions include "What is Creative Business all about?", "Take a Photo like a Professional on a Student's Budget", and "Personal Financing".
The Classroom Experience at UOW Malaysia KDU is a blessed opportunity for school-leavers to immerse themselves in the tertiary experience before making the next big decision.
It also enables them to explore their innate talents and gain insights into career options available to them.
