5 ways to improve your immunity and stay protected

Over the last two years, we have learnt that it is very important to have a strong immune health to protect ourselves. As we are currently moving towards endemicity, it is key to keep our immunity in check. Immunity level declines as we age and we have to be constantly vigilant to keep ourselves protected in order to live a better and healthier life. Some easy to follow dietary and lifestyle changes may help to boost your body’s natural defenses.

Here are 5 tips to strengthen your immune health.

  1. Check your immunity levels

The Immunity Calculator is backed by science and endorsed by the Malaysian Society of Allergy and Immunology (MSAI). This self-assessment tool is a convenient way to find out how your immune system is doing with just 7 easy health-related questions that can be answered in less than 1 minute.

  1. Have a regular exercise routine

Moderate exercise can reduce inflammation and promote a healthy turnover of immune cells. Jogging, biking, walking, swimming, and hiking are also great alternatives.

However, it is important to remember that vigorous exercise may have some adverse effects on the immune system. Start slowly in moderation and over time, you may increase the intensity.

  1. Make sure to get enough sleep

Sleep and immunity are closely linked. Have you ever realised that you tend to sleep more when you are sick? That is because your body is building up its immune system to fight off the illnesses.

Getting an adequate amount of rest may strengthen your natural immunity as most adults need at least 7 hours of sleep per night.

  1. Watch what you are eating

Be mindful of your diet. Consume nutritious food with high antioxidants, fiber, and vitamin C. Limit the consumption of processed food and lower your sugar intake.

It can be hard to obtain enough nutrients especially if you are always on the go. You can incorporate nutritious adult milk such as PROVITAL Immuna Plus in your daily diet to boost your immunity with the unique blend of yeast beta-glucan, selenium and vitamin C. These nutrients are important for a healthy immune system.

  1. Manage your stress levels

Although it is easier said than done, reducing stress and anxiety plays a crucial role in improving immunity. Long term stress can lead to imbalances in immune cell function.

Keep a positive attitude and practice mindfulness. Practice meditation and yoga which can help lower your stress levels.

In conjunction with World Immunity Month, Mead Johnson Nutrition launched its Activate Your Immunity, Stay Protected campaign led by adult nutritious milk, PROVITAL Immuna Plus. The campaign is a collaboration with the MSAI. The educational campaign aims to empower Malaysian adults to take charge of activating their immunity so that they can stay protected during these uncertain times.
