Lalamove honours its employees, delivery partners and business clients in conjunction with IWD

Lalamove, the leading 24/7 on-demand delivery platform, celebrates International Women’s Day by drawing attention to its manager, delivery partners and business client in a dedicated interview featurette.

The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is #breakthebias. Besides being a focal point to celebrate the achievements of women stakeholders in Lalamove, the company is promoting a greater consciousness for equality in the male-dominated local delivery industry.

Jane Teh, Managing Director of Lalamove Malaysia

“One of the missions of International Women’s Day is forging inclusive work cultures where women's careers thrive, and their achievements are celebrated. It is an opportunity to reinforce our commitment to inclusiveness in our workplace and fleet,” said Jane Teh, the Managing Director of Lalamove Malaysia.

“Besides that, we want to express our appreciation to women who have been shaping the Lalamove that Malaysians know today. This is why we are featuring our women colleagues, delivery partners and business clients in an International Women’s Day interview.”

Lalamove’s Business Development Manager, Crystal Ong was the first interviewee in line for the featurette. Besides affirming Lalamove’s practice of recognising talent among women, she shared her thoughts on unconscious bias, which is an issue that is widely discussed in the pursuit of equality in the workplace.

Two of Lalamove’s delivery partners had the honour of being selected for the featurette.

For Jesse, a retiree and a grandmother of one, she has this to say to women who wish to be a Lalamove delivery partner, “If you want to be a part of the Lalamove fleet, go for it! Don’t just talk about equality. Walk the talk. Don’t be intimidated by challenges in this line of work. Take good care of yourself, and you’ll be able to cope with whatever challenges that come your way.”

Intan Nurfarihah is a Lalamove car delivery partner with 600 fulfilled deliveries under her record. Her story drives home the determination to make a difference for her family. She even demonstrated tenacity when she took on jobs when she was in the third trimester of her pregnancy.

“As long as I have the strength to raise my children and support my husband with household expenditures, l will keep on working to make ends meet. With the flexibility and worthwhile returns, Lalamove is a great source of income for our family,” commented Nurfarihah.

For the business client-side, Jane said that Lalamove is always on the frontline to support SMEs and businesses from all industries with tailored last-mile delivery solutions. The same sentiment applies to women-led companies.

“For this special day featurette, we are proud to feature Halo Doughnut, who has been our business client since April 2020. We work closely with its co-founder, Khris, to meet her customers’ demand for instant delivery of Halo’s artisanal doughnuts,” Jane adds.

“Khris’ journey from someone with no experience in running a business to helming a growing dessert enterprise is admirable. Her story and brand deserve more recognition, which is why we are featuring her in our International Women’s Day featurette.”
