Malaysia Association for the Welfare of Mentally Challenged Children is currently facing critical financial problems

Our organization has been relying on our reserved funds to sustain throughout the pandemic, and the reserved funds are now close to exhaustion. 73 residences, who aged from 1 year old to 74 years old are now facing hardships, where our organization is now barely able to manage the huge monthly costs, which is approximately RM100,000.

We sincerely hope that more kind-hearted people can lend us and our children helping hands to overcome all the crisis and challenges.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the amount of help and donations received by the IQ70 Plus had reduced drastically over the years. This situation landed a huge burden on our shoulders, especially for a big family that accommodates around 100 residents (including both mentally disabled children and the caretakers).

We have to rely on the limited reserved funds to make sure our children are receiving the optimal care. In order to let our children continue receiving the protection and care they deserve, we have to resolve the crisis our organization is currently facing as soon as possible.

Costs and expenses of our organization includes electrical and water bills, rentals, meal expenses, regular medical or treatment fees, groceries, and salaries for full-time caretakers. We also assigned two physiotherapists to conduct physiotherapy sessions to some of our children on a weekly basis, which costs us RM 1200 per session.

IQ70plus had been established for almost a decade as a non-profitable organization that accepts and provides care for mentally challenged children free-of-charge. They were all coming from underprivileged backgrounds like single-parent families or poor families. With the shortage of funds or donations, we were unable to afford these significant yet necessary expenses.

Although the Covid-19 pandemic situation we had been facing seems alleviated recently, the donations we had received in the past years dropped drastically due to the influence of the pandemic.

Therefore, we would like to run a donation drive to gather sufficient funds to overcome this financial crisis. We sincerely hope that more kind-hearted people can reach out to us and our children.

On behalf of our children, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Please kindly share this news to your friends and families, so that more people in the society can notice the hardship we are going through. Please help our children. Once again, thank you.
