Securemetric helps businesses to strengthen their digital security fortress

In Malaysia, the Movement Control Order (MCO) imposed previously is also seen to contribute towards the improvement of digital technology in Malaysia, thus becoming a catalyst for the rapid transformation of the digital economy.

At the same time, the behaviour of traders and consumers who take full advantage of digital technology during the MCO has encouraged businesses from across the industry to drive their digital presence to maintain cash flow and business sustainability.

However, the acceleration of business digitization and rapid growth in most sectors have exposed businesses to a significant risk of unprotected online security breaches. The cyber security company, Securemetric Bhd. (Securemetric) came forward offering to enhance digital security services to prevent information leakage or fraud due to cyber attacks.

Their Chief Executive Officer, Edward Law, said Securemetric always strives to develop consumer-friendly solutions by focusing on three key aspects of digital security, namely Protecting Digital IDs, Protecting Mobile Applications and Online Transactions. The services or applications we offer to consumers not only aim to solve digital problems arising from the pandemics but also provide long-term solutions that benefit the country as a whole.

"For now, the company plays a major role in providing digital security facilities to government agencies and enterprises in the ASEAN region, in line with the organization's vision to be a key player in the transformation of the digital economy in the region," he said.

Signing your documents securely with SigningCloud

Edward also said Securemetric recommended current businessmen be vigilant in protecting their digital footprints so that their businesses are protected from fraudulent activities that are becoming more prevalent in line with the transition to digital business dealings.

Most of these fraudulent activities involve the forgery of documents or electronic signatures that are easily tampered with. For example, if someone has access to your email and changes the contents of a signed document, you have no way to track it at all.

"Even worse if the document is misused or your signature is used to commit a crime," he said. According to Edward, to avoid these problems, Securemetric has introduced the SigningCloud application that allows users to sign documents securely.

SigningCloud is a cloud-hosted Digital Signature service that is fully developed as a signer cloud-based Public Key Infrastructure. Through this application, each signatory is required to include their Digital ID either through the SigningCloud ID or the Trusted Certificate Authority ID.

"It also simplifies users and saves time because users can sign documents securely anywhere, anytime and on any device," he said.

Edward added that the use of SigningCloud can also reduce the use of paper in daily life as everything is done online.

"Through this application, users no longer need to print a signed document because the document can be referenced online through the platform," he said.

Securemetric – a company with a strong formula for digital security

Securemetric is one of Southeast Asia’s leading regional players in the field of digital security with a core focus on Software Licensing Protection (Software License Dongle, Software Protection Dongle), 2-Factor Authentication (2FA), Advanced Identity and Access Management, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI System) and Cryptography. Since being incorporated in 2007, Securemetric has expanded strong local footprints with local establishments in Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and the Philippines.

“The key motivation for us to venture into this ‘Why Can’t We?’. As the trend for getting quality and reliable digital security solutions has changed from ‘Good-to-have’ to ‘Must-have’. The key challenge remains with total ownership cost mostly dominated by USD or EURO currency zones,” shares Law on the motivation behind Securemetric. He believes that the local market here as well as in Southeast Asia requires not just options that can best fit their pockets but also someone who can understand and solve their problem statements better especially involving local regulatory compliance.

“We strongly believe with our experiences of over a hundred years on accumulated mission-critical digital security, we can be on par with global brands and offer options that are localised to fit the Southeast Asia market and beyond.”
