“What do we do during the weekends?”

This simple idea sprouted from a question when I was working in Singapore 4 years ago. During that time, every weekend I would go to the library to read and improve myself. After 5 working days, we typically look forward to the weekends to unwind, catch up on our sleep, lounge on the couch to watch our favorite dramas, movies, shows, or scroll through our social media all day long. But we asked... Can we plan our weekends to be a bit more fruitful and create incredible memories at the same time?

That is how My Weekend Plan came to fruition. Since I was young, I learned baking from my sister who is a homebaker. I learned that baking can be fun and therapeutic, as well as connecting people together. We also noticed there is a growing community of baking enthusiasts out there. We caught the vision and started off with a small group of bakers. With the help of my sisters and my team of digital marketing experts, we published short articles on a daily basis that could inspire readers to be creative with their home menus. We feature delicious baking recipes that are quick, easy, and with ingredients readily available in any supermarket.

Along the way, we grew and began attracting like-minded bakers from every corner of Malaysia. We later recognize that people are starting to turn to us for baking and cooking ideas, advice, recommendations, and demand more! As of today, our social media outreach has consistently achieved about 3 million reach per month and the website traffic is about 50K readers and it’s still growing. We provide a platform for people who want to get their hands dirty while they bake. It is for those who care about the quality of their food, and how it affects the health of themselves. Searching for a recipe you need becomes easier with My Weekend Plan’s easy-to-navigate database of recipes.

Since then, we strive to create innovative and taste-proven recipes, fun and relevant content every day to add actual value to our audience to spark conversations and grow organically. We believe creating good food doesn’t require large amounts of money or space. It requires inspiration, connection to resources and motivation to do something about it. The basic elements of good food can be learned and achieved by all.

Hence My Weekend Plan became a go-to and indispensable media space to millions of bakers and foodies.

Currently, My Weekend Plan operates on 3 different revenue streams:
1) Online baking classes for students who want to enhance their baking skills
2) Media advertising for brand manufacturers
3) Corporate online baking team bonding

Apart from offline classes, which we cannot conduct during this pandemic, we have started off with online classes which cater to individual bakers who want to enhance their baking skills. Prior to the class, we will provide all the baking ingredients and send them to their house, so participants can bake successfully with the right techniques.

On top of that, we also provide online group baking workshops for staff bonding too. Employees can know each other better through relaxing baking bonding activities.

We are humbled that various clients from F&B and FMCG also quickly took notice of us and looked into potential collaborations. We work on high-quality and compelling content for these F&B and FMCG brand manufacturers to amplify their brand’s awareness to our audience. To date, My Weekend Plan has about 83 brands that work closely with us, including Bake With Yen, Khind, Arla, Lurpak and more!

Starting a business is similar to planting a seed. With tireless efforts and a good amount of money is required to nurture a startup while expecting nothing in return. All these efforts seem to be fruitful when the business starts yielding profit. We are glad that My Weekend Plan is part of MAGIC's Virtual Global Accelerator Programme (GAP) Cohort 05. This programme equips us with sufficient knowledge and skills to move us forward from the starting stage, to the development stage and now it’s in the expansion stage. My Weekend Plan is looking to expand to Singapore and Indonesia next year. We want to help more people to live happier, healthier lives through fulfilling weekends.
