A very Malaysian Merdeka with MR.DIY’s 64th Merdeka Celebration

As the 64th year of Malaysian independence comes around, MR.DIY thinks about how far it has come as a company as well. MR.DIY was first opened at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman in July 2005. Today, it has now grown and became the largest home improvement retailer in the region with 827 stores (MR.DIY , MR. TOY and MR. DOLLAR) across Malaysia and Brunei.

Staying true to its company motto: “Always Low Prices”, customers are able to get everything they need at affordable prices, especially now with the economic impact of the pandemic.

With categories ranging from hardware to household, electrical to furnishing, stationery to sports, each store offers an average of 18,000 varieties of products at 'Always Low Prices'. Customers are able to purchase all their necessities under one roof instead of going to several individual stores.

With the current pandemic and lockdown in Malaysia, it can be difficult to have repairmen and handyman services available. Just as the name suggests, MR.DIY encourages customers to ‘do-it-yourself’ by having hardware and household facilities in stores. Customers can fix broken pipes, paint walls and change lightbulbs independently with always low priced items from MR.DIY.

MR.DIY is a well-known brand among Malaysians leading to more than 738 stores opening across the country. With a convenient location for every store, MR.DIY is easily accessible everywhere as Malaysians can visit a store within their neighbourhood. To celebrate Merdeka and Malaysia Day this year, MR.DIY is having a promotion to all customers nationwide from 1 August to 16 September 2021.

Being a homegrown brand, customers should support local brands such as MR.DIY. Many Malaysian products will be featured in this promotion such as KATKAT Prepared Cuttlefish and Kacang Menglembu Thumbs (Ngan Yin). Other products that will be available are some that are familiar to a Malaysian childhood. Celebrate Merdeka by reminiscing with nostalgic childhood snacks like Apollo, Koko Krunch and even Ribena.

The classic way of celebrating this period of national pride would be to display the nation’s flag on the front porch of the house or even sticking a small flag on the car or motorcycle. Malaysians can purchase a variety of these flags for as low as RM0.75 in selected MR.DIY stores.

Commemorate Merdeka this year with MR.DIY’s top selected Malaysian all-time favourite food and beverages. Check out these true Malaysian snacks to celebrate the true Malaysian way this August and September here:
