Best Express Malaysia donates pandemic relief supplies to local police

On the 3rd of June 2021, as Malaysia entered its third nationwide lockdown, BEST Express Malaysia continued its part in fighting the pandemic by donating relief supplies to Selangor police as they worked tirelessly to ensure public safety.

Face shields, hand sanitiser and disinfectant, food, and bottled water worth more than RM10,000 were donated, to be distributed to policemen guard at roadblocks, enforcing the government’s Movement Control Order (MCO) all day, every day.

According to Malaysian health authorities, the nation’s total confirmed cases stands at over 590,000. A record 9,020 cases were reported on May 29.

“We thank BEST Express for this timely contribution toward combating the pandemic,” said ASP Jaswant Singh, from the Security and Public Order Division, adding that the supplies will be given to local police officers working 12-hour shifts.

Providing essential logistics services across the nation, BEST Express Malaysia has implemented contactless delivery since the initial outbreak, all the while ensuring health and safety best practices throughout business operations, from the disinfection of sortation hubs every six hours to mandatory social distancing and mask-wearing for all staff.

“It is a logistics company’s duty to help contain this virus,” said Calvin Yong, general manager at BEST Express Malaysia. “Our donation to the police force is also a way for us to help keep our frontline couriers safe as they work in areas of high risk.”
